Position Summary

The Senior HR Manager will participate in planning, implementing, and evaluating employee relations and human resources policies, programs, and practices. This role will lead functions related to recruiting, training (including performance management and enforcing company policies and practices.

Reporting to the Director of People and Culture, they will partner with the Director and team members  to drive day to day operations in support of employee relations, using developed recommendations focused on improving processes and positively impacting over all business performance and HR team metrics. This is a temporary position to fill in for a maternity leave that will last from June 2021 - November 2021 (estimation).


This is a remote position from a suitable home office with a private and quiet area to work. Secure internet and reliable phone reception are required. This position requires frequent phone and internet meetings. Certain home office expenses may be reimbursed. A work computer will be provided.


Full-time, 40 hours per week. We are a West Coast-based company and applicants must be available during normal business hours (9:00 AM - 6:00 PM Pacific Time, Monday through Friday). The exact schedule may be arranged upon hire. Occasional weekend hours may be required with advance arrangement.


Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in a supervisory HR role
  • PHR or SHRM-CP preferred
  • Experience operating within a fast-paced, mission-driven, and/or Pharma organization
  • Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of HR best practices and relevant understanding of federal, state and local laws
  • Aptitude and ability with technology and systems to collect and report out on data.
  • Attention to detail and strive for accuracy in all things.


Position Duties

  • Supervise and serve as a thought partner to the HR Manager
  • Lead and mediate employee relations (including investigations) and/or other employee interactions for managers and employees. Support Director as needed on any legal matters
  • Provide HR support and guidance to managers and employees on HR policies and procedures and legal (regulatory) compliance issues in a digestible manner
  • Support Director and PAINT committees in building out an equitable and progressive culture that promotes diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Lead performance management, employee development, and succession planning initiatives across the organization. Support Director in org level change management processes.
  • Assure compliance with all local, state, and federal laws governing employment
  • Stay abreast of current industry best practices around policy and compliance
  • Ensure all HR policies and procedures are consistently administered throughout the organization
  • Oversee and partner with the HR Manager on the benefit process including new hire orientation and open enrollment,
  • In conjunction with Director, lead the talent development and recruitment efforts to meet org needs
